Molas are the heart of the store — multicolor embroideries made by Guna women from San Blas. Each one is a unique, unrepeatable work of art. Also: wounaan baskets, carved tagua, Panama-style hats and balsa figures.

Panamanian Coffee

Chiriquí's coffee is among the world's finest. The Geisha variety from Boquete has repeatedly won top spots at international competitions like Best of Panama. We offer whole bean, ground and capsules from selected farms.

Chocolate & Cacao

Panama has a rich and little-known cacao tradition. Artisan chocolates from indigenous producers in Bocas del Toro and Darién. Raw cacao, nibs and single-estate dark chocolate bars.

It's not from Panama.

The famous "Panama Hat" is actually woven in Ecuador — in the towns of Montecristi and Cuenca. Artisans there have hand-weaved toquilla straw hats for over 400 years.

Panama gave it the name.

During the construction of the Panama Canal (1880s–1914), workers and engineers bought these Ecuadorian hats in Panama's markets. When Theodore Roosevelt visited the Canal in 1906 and was photographed wearing one, the name stuck forever.

A fine hat takes months.

The highest quality Montecristi hats — called "superfinos" — can have over 2,500 weaves per square inch and take a single artisan up to 8 months to complete. They can sell for thousands of dollars.

Panama has its own hat too.

The authentic Panamanian hat is the Sombrero Pintado — handwoven in the Azuero Peninsula and worn with the traditional pollera. A symbol of national identity that has nothing to do with Ecuador.
